Yes Empaths, There's an Essential Oil For That!

Have you ever been told that you're too sensitive--and not in a good way? 

Do you feel a flood of emotion in a crowd, or experience the emotions of others as if they were your own?

Do you feel drained or like you need a nap after being around people? 

If this sounds like you, you may be an Empath. Empaths make up 15-20% of the population, but many people who have empathic abilities feel very alone. Empaths can isolate themselves because it is too intense to be around people. Empaths can self-limit their life because being in a crowd, a busy office, a demanding school program and other situations with intense emotion overwhelms their nervous system with other people's emotions. 

Thriving as an Empath

Being an Empath can feel like a curse. You can get inadvertently taken advantage of by friends and family members who feel better being around you because you absorb their emotions so they don't have to feel them. You can feel you are depressed or anxious without reason and think there is something wrong with you.  You can absorb the emotions of others and get derailed by anger and fear that you think are yours--but they're not!

It may not seem like it, but being an Empath can actually be a huge blessing--if you know how to work with it. It took me years to realize that the wild range of thoughts and emotions I felt didn't belong to me, and that I spent a ton of time trying to make sense of things that could make no sense because they didn't belong to me.   

It's important Empaths learn how to access the fruits of our gift. Not just for our own well-being, but because more and more kids are being born Empaths. Without a culture that both understands and teaches young Empaths how to thrive, another generation of these gifted souls will think there is something wrong with them, instead of understanding that their unique insight can help heal people and even help heal the world.

Essential Oils for Empaths

Here are some oils I've used to help me thrive as an Empath--learn about six more in Veronica's course!

Vetiver and Balance Grounding Blend to bring my energy back into my whole body when I feel flighty or off-center. I use them aromatically (smelling them) and also apply them to the bottoms of my feet and in the webbing on the top of the hand between index finger and thumb. Use one or both every 15-20 minutes until you feel grounded and centered in your body again. 

Clove and OnGuard Protective Blend for boundaries. Use aromatically and apply topically (diluted if desired) to your solar plexus to help create and sustain healthy boundaries. Apply in the morning and before going out where you will be with people.

Lemon, Wild Orange and Bergamot to help break a thought or emotional loop. Citrus oils help clear the mind and energy and are wonderful to use aromatically both as needed (I keep one in my purse at all times!) and also to diffuse in your home or office to help keep your energy, thoughts and emotions clear. NOTE: Citrus oils can make your skin photosensitive for up to 12 hours, so if you use them topically, avoid using them on exposed skin.

Lavender, Cedarwood, Rose, Rosemary, Basil, Frankincense and Forgive Renewing Blend to zap anxiety and bring me into emotional balance. Use your favorites aromatically & topically daily to help maintain emotional balance, and  keep them with you for those emotional emergencies! I keep at least one of these in my purse at all times.
